Glass Mosaic for Bathrooms

Glass tiles have been a part of interior design since eras much older than you would think. This is the case because glass adds a certain brand of splendor and is highly customizable in terms of color. Moreover, glass tiles are preferred due to the property of glass that makes reflects the light around it making the vicinity where it is installed lighter and brighter.
Mosaic glass tiles are available in a variety of different colors, shapes, styles and sizes which means there something to suit and fit every washroom design. You can use them frugally like on washroom mirror frames or along with the traditional and larger washroom ceramic and marble tiles.  Or you can use glass mosaic all over the washroom walls and they’ll serve a 2in1 purpose of functionality and décor. The perfect tile in a washroom, is not very different from the right accessories to match a dress, it can affect the look of the whole place.

Here are some of the best glass tile mosaic ideas for washrooms from around the web:

This is an excellent example of mixing up the tile styles within one washroom. The 3 color blend, grey stick mosaic tiles are by Tileshop from their line of glass tiles called Tranquillo. The mosaic contrasts beautifully with the plain beige porcelain tiles and even gives the contemporary washroom an extra touch of modern design.

The company describes Tranquillo tiles as “shiny and matte glass pieces with silk-screened under glazing”. And like most glass tiles they are low-maintenance and easy to clean thus making them ideal on washroom walls.

Majestic Wallpaper Effect

Magnificent and shimmery - This gold and maroon mosaic gives walls the details of a wallpaper and while still maintaining the water-proof and humidity resistant requirement of washroom walls.
For the golden floral patterns the mosaicaists at MEC Artworks used glass tiles containing a film of actual 24k gold. The rest of the wall is adorned with Maroon Glass Tiles, which along with the Gold Tiles, make a royal combination, giving the washroom a classy look.
Design: MEC Artworks, Canada

The relatively neutral-colored and modern washtub and vanity counter-top look picture-perfect with the mosaic wall and the maroon floor. Plus, the way the floor pattern is reflected on the floor (under well-lit conditions) creates an enchanting effect. Stepping out of this washroom might feel like stepping down from a throne.

More Ways to Use Glass Tile Mosaics

In case you don’t have the budget to cover the entire washroom in mosaic tile art or you don’t want it to look too over crowded you can always go for glass tile design in some selected areas.

Rossington Architecture, in the above example, has used the glass tile mosaic to add accent and color to the otherwise simple and white washroom. Along with the other design components like the flower pot and modern light posts the slight hints and accents of colored mosaic design is a real treat for the eyes.

Backsplashes

Adding some glass tile mosaic backsplash can protect the normally vulnerable area of wall behind the sink that is constantly subjected to water, soap and toothpaste splashes. It guards the wall from damage and is a good deal easier to clean.

The above washroom features a mix of ½” glass and stone mosaic tiles as a backsplash between a large washroom mirror and the marble basin counter.

Pretty Bubbles - this unique bubble-like mosaic backsplash is the work of an Italian company Evit that dealt in mosaic art for interiors. The “bubbles” or the round glass tiles vary in sizes which makes the overall look exciting and random even though the design is repetitive.

Gorgeous aqua and dark blue glass tiles are perfectly to adding fun and a splash of color to the washroom. Reminds one of a clear tranquil sea and the beach, doesn’t it?

Shower/Bath Area

Truly ‘green’ - this washroom is the part of a loft studio that has been decorated by Turret Collaborative Architects, and it features ‘recycled’ mosaic glass tiles. Notice how the mosaic part is only limited to the shower area? You can also use similar technique for your restroom if you don’t want the space over whelmed with mosaic.
